About

Margaret Creek at White Wedding EventAskwith with Weston WI is a friendly, lively group of ladies, we meet on the second Thursday of each month at Askwith Village Hall, in between Otley and Ilkley at 7.30pm

We usually have a speaker (on a very diverse range of topics!) a short business meeting to discuss up and coming events, followed of course by tea and cakes! During the month there is also a luncheon club, visiting various pubs and cafes around the area, a craft club which meets once a month for a get-together and occasional workshops. There are regular theatre trips and a couple of times a year we hire a coach for a day out.

We are part of North Yorkshire West Federation, based in Ripon. Federation organise a wide variety of workshops, days out, visits etc.

      Hi Susan,
That’s great, our next meeting is on 14th July, we meet at the village hall in Askwith at 7.30. We’ve got a Road Safety Officer coming to talk to us next month. We usually have a short business meeting first where we find out everything that’s going on in our federation, our speaker usually talks for around 45 minutes or so, then we have tea and cakes and generally socialise.
If you like walking and fancy meeting a handful of us on a more informal basis first our walking group is doing a short walk from Blubberhouses church area to Thruscross reservoir on 27th June in the afternoon, you’d be more than welcome to join us, just let us know first so we know to look out for you.
We’re a pretty friendly group so I hope you’ll enjoy your visit and decide to join our WI
      Regards
      Margaret Creek

      Hi Nicola
Our next meeting is on 11th August, should be an interesting meeting as we’ve got Sir Thomas Ingilby from Ripley Castle coming to talk to us. We meet at Askwith village hall on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7.30pm. The usual format of the evening is that we have business meeting first when we find out what’s going on in the area, then we have a speaker, followed by social time with tea and cake. The first couple of meetings are free before you have to decide if it’s your cup of tea.
Hope you can make it to the next meeting, looking forward to meeting you
      Regards
      Margaret Creek

Hi Ann, don’t worry, I don’t think it’s rude at all! WI is open to any woman over 16 (or 18, can’t remember which) years of age. We have about 40 members, our age group at the moment is probably from 40’s upwards, we would welcome new members of all ages, I joined over 20 years ago when I was 30 in between babies, I’ve always enjoyed the mix of ages. We’ve got a meeting next Thursday if you fancy coming along to see what it’s all about.
